Strike Day Music Camp!

On Wednesday 5th June members of some of the teaching unions held a strike, resulting in the closure of some of the Island’s schools.  Unfortunately, the particular timing meant that some children might not be able to participate in the Jersey Sings Across the Bay event organised by Music in Action. In response, our team here at JAM worked together with JLPA , who share our building, to put together a one-day music and dance focused camp for primary aged children from across the island.

About 30 children took part, from many different island schools.  Sessions in the morning rotated between ukulele, musical theatre and trying out various woodwind instruments.  We then took the coach down to St. Aubin’s Bay to participate in the massed bucket and spade orchestra organised by Music in Action.  On return to Chateau Vermont, after being suitably plied with ice lollies, the young students finished off with a percussion workshop.
